A proud mommy moment

Poor Tom.

Well, I dragged my neighbor out for a run with me on Sunday. We had been talking about running together, so since this was a short run (5 miles) I told him lets go.

Around mile 1.75, I lost him, I continued on to 2.5, then headed back and caught up with him at mile marker 2, and didn't stop till mile marker 0. "I hate you right now" were his last and only words to me on the way home.

I also got him to agree to do Holly Springs first 5k race with me. But I know I don't have a serious running partner in him because, he loathes running. He's just doing it to get back into shape.

So the search continues for a running partner/motivator.

Double UGH

We are in day two of Gabby's thumb sucking intervention. We had a long chat with her and we bought poster board and stickers to show her progress.

But out of habit, the thumb finds it's way back into the mouth. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH. She is only three, ut I know from experience that the older she gets the harder it will be for her to stop.

I am surfing the web for a Bitter Nail polish, to deterr her from sucking the thumb.

This is right up there with potting training her. The SINGLE worst experience of our LIVES!

UGH!!

Well the past week I fell off the wagon. Eating crap and not exercising. It all started with my WI on Sunday, it had me up 5lbs. WTF? Was soo irritated and upset that I said Fuck it, and went all buckwilde.

I re-gained my composure on Thrusday and came up with a new game plan. On friday I put it into action. I looked over my diet of the last few weeks, and it hit me. Not enough protein was being consumed. All the muscle I was building with ST and running was being broken down. Therefore no fat was or is being burned.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. So I have reved up my lean and LF protein, and added a Soy Powder form to my diet. Hopefully this will give me the fuel I need to kickstart this weightloss again.

I also think it is much harder to lose weight while training. It has to be. That's my rationalization and I am sticking to it!

Back to the running, yesterday's long run was very tiring, I ended up doing 13 miles, with about 1 - 1.5 mile walk after mile 10. Ugh, but it's my fault, no running during the week, took a toll on me. I have about 6.5 weeks to the race, I am going to be super ready.

On the Trails

Today I ran my 10.25 (125 minutes) on the American Tobacco Trail. First time ever running on a trail. It was harder than I expected it to be. And the gale force winds didn't help, as well as being intensely sore from Fridays lower body ST.

I am in pain as I type this, but I really enjoyed the run. There were tons of families, runners, running groups, cyclists, and walkers. I felt very safe and worn out in the end, which is good, means I ran hard, but it also made me think, does this ever get any easier? Anyways, I think I found my new "spot".

The trail itself is about 22 miles long, and spans through two counties, starting in durham county and Ending in Wake County. It's really gorgeous out there. No wonder it was packed on a Sunday.

I SURVIVED!

  • 10 Miles in 1 hour and 55 minutes. Holy Shit. It was hard though. I ran on Main Street with two huge ass inclines. Blah. Slow, 11:30 pace, but I did it. What a difference GU makes. Wow. Thanks for the tip Maria!
  • Ash Wednesday and fasting. I had two small snacks consisting of fruit and pocorn. Guzzelled water to control the hunger pangs, but when dinner time came, I GRUBBED! Whole wheat pasta and veggies, and I was still hungry. So I headed to bed before I undid everything I had done thus far.
  • and will hopfully survive my Speed work today! 4 miles at a 10:28 pace. Yikes atleast I get half mile jogs in between the speed miles.

Gary and I were talking last night about our trip to Mexico. We need to pick out our dates and give them to the travel agent and figure out our milestones in regards to payment.

Did I mention how much fun we had last year? We had a freakin' blast. So did the twins. Best money spent ever.

I cannot wait to go again. An hopefully make this a yearly vacation.
