We had a BLAST Camping....

so I organized a camping trip with our Triangle Interracial-families Group, last weekend, at Vista Point at Jordan Lake what allot of work that was, but everyone seemed to have had a great time. We ate, drank, the kids played and finally slept.

Gary kept us up late as usual, with the bonfire and music. What a great way to spend time with all your friends. A few of us (uhmGRETCHuhm) drank allot, and serenaded a few.

All the kids seemed to enjoy themselves immensely, except for Derrick who would not pewp, until we got home. Geeee I wonder where he got that from??????? Oh and the rain, it rained the last night at the lake but our trusty tent withheld the torrential down pour and the thunder and lightning. It did get unexpectedly cold at night, but most (ahemCandCahem) were prepared.

All in all, a great time was had by all, and CandC are planning the next trip at the beach come June. Cannot wait.

This is what happens...

when you leave two kids upstairs in your bedroom with laundry to be folded on your bed:

And a couple of pics with the slide they are way to big for, but they still insist they want it:

This is awful...

saw this on Perez, and was horrified...and yeah I did chuckle. Thank the lord she was not seriously hurt.

Finally...

I feel about 300 percent better than I did last week. That cold really knocked me on my ASS! I haven't been that sick in a long time. And it didn't help that I stuffed the pie hole with everything I could find. But eh...I am back on track.

I need to commit to 2 races, Angels Among Us 5K benefiting the NC chapter of Make a Wish Foundation , which I will be running with Tom, the greatest neighbor ever and The City of Oaks Half Marathon, which upon looking at the course, is basically the same course that the B of A half followed. Gonna do that this week.

Haven't run in over a week, so today is my first day back, will go easy with 3 miles and CORE ST! I am ready to kick this weight loss back in to high gear. I am logging all my food into the WW food thingee and staying OP! So all my fellow WW ladies who read my BLOG, need to kick my butt if you see me getting lazy!

I need to get some more weight off before I fly home in July and see my family! Now that I have it in writing, here, for all of you to see, I have to stick it out right?

Maybe the flu...

is what I have. I started feeling really crappy Sunday, and by Monday I was in this full blown congestion, achiness and nausea. Blah.

I stayed home yesterday, and slept and watched movies, niice! I am here at work today, feeling a better, but still congested. Just gonna take it nice and easy and rest.

Hopefully I will feel better by tomorrow and get back to running.

Race Results!

I will start on Friday afternoon.

I had to leave work early and drive from Chapel Hill to Downtown Raleigh, to pick up the forgotten packet.

Headed back to Cary, to pick up my Pasta Fiorentina at Cinelli's, then picked up the twins and headed to Jumpin Beans for our play date.

We got home, and I bathed them and off to bed they went. I proceeded to shower and get everything ready for the next day. Was in bed by 10:30PM and then we get this horrendous lightning/thunder storm, which last for an hour...I finally fell asleep around 11:45PM.

Alarm went off at 6AM, got up and dressed, popped some toast in the oven, spread on some PB, and grabbed a half cup of LF Cottage cheese, which I scarfed before getting into the car.

Arrived at the Sheraton, and picked up my chip by 7:30, stretched and headed to the start. Started up a bit of chit chat with a few racers. Weather was overcast with light drizzling that came and went.

8AM off we go....the band on Mile 1 was a 80's cover band which was really cool, there were bands playing at almost every mile marker. we did a loop around downtown, with 3 medium sized hills, then around mile 5 we headed out onto Hillsborough street, which is pretty hilly, not majorly but not as flat as the course was said to be, mile 7 was through the Dixie Trail neighborhood, then mile 8 has us back on Hillsborough headed toward the NC State Fairgrounds.

Not that walking then running is not the way to race but man I was getting irritated by many peeps, they would pass me..get in front of me then walk, so I was forced to go around them and get in front of them. Very annoying!

So as I am onto mile 9 I am losing steam on a hill..and I decided to walk the rest of the upward battle....Quickly. I sprinted into mile 10 and at mile 11 another hill, and so on. On mile twelve I decided I needed to suck it up and jog up hill, and I sprinted in with a finishing time of 2:37. I wanted to come in under 2:30 but those hills got the best of me.

And on to the anti-climactic ending..they ran out of medals! Holy Shit! That pissed me off even more. But what can you do.

My friend Courtney and Savannah were there to cheer me into the finish line. Had some beer and bananas and watched the awards ceremony in the rain.

I hopped in the car and headed home, but first stopped off to get a burger and fires at a local spot off the race course, went home showered and bummed it.

It was awesome. I still have a smile on my face.

And on a side note, I was reading the update on the BTR homepage, and found out that minutes before the race started, people stole some water station tables, and mile markers. I thought it was odd that there were only mile markers every 2 miles. People can just be assholes!

And a very unflattering finish photo..don't mind all the flab!

It was supposed to be...

75 degrees today.....Uhm I think not. It was a chilly day of about 50. I packed my new dry-fit tank into my gym bag, so i was not prepared to run outside in this weather, I did the 5 miler on the TM. I am irritated cuz the Building management peeps still have not fixed the CNN channel. The only channel that comes in, everything else is filled with snow. Getting real tired of watching Cops and Cheaters, and sometimes even Maury.

I remember when I first started running, I would start at 4.3..ha ha ha, now I warm up on 5.0 and continue at 5.5. Not a big leap but for this fat chick, it's a big accomplishment.

Today we also had our March of Dimes fund raising lunch, but since I needed to get this run in, I had to skip it. Blah..

And what a dope, I totally forgot to pick up my race packet yesterday, so I have to go tomorrow. Tomorrow is the pasta dinner sponsored by the event, but I already promised my TIF group that we would join them at our monthly play date. Oh well.

Just hoping and praying the weather cooperates on Saturday, if not I will be disappointed!
