What do you mean Vacations OVER?

Hey fellow bloggers. Yeah I have been way tooo busy having fun on my vacations that I haven't been able to blog.

We had the BEST time in California. The twins played with all their cousins, I saw all my family and it was nice to see my sisters and brother. We went out, partied and we even went to see Dark Knight, which was awesome. I hate it that my sisters and brother live so far away!

A sad note: My aunt Rosemary was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and was in a drug induce coma while they drained excess fluid from her brain. It was hard to have a good time knowing she was still in that state my whole trip. I need to call my family for an update today.
Say a prayer for her please.

I met up with my good friend DIE, at Universal City Walk. I was soo irritated that I had to pay $12 to park. WTF?

And groceries were way expensive. I couldn't believe it. And I was charged $.50 to use my Debit/Visa card at the pump. Again WTF? And lets not forget the crazy ass drivers all over the 405, 5, 10 and 210 freeways.

Just a reminder of why we left CALIFORNIA!

I cried after we walked through security in Ontario for the trip home. I love my moms and I hate that we live so far away.

I had a 3 hour lay over in Houston, and Blanca and Michele covered an hour of that time. They met us in the baggage claim which was conveniently 10 minutes from our departure gate.

Our flight was delayed about an hour and we finally made it off the plane in RDU at midnight, and we were home in bed by 2AM. I called in sick to work that day for some much needed rest.

Then it was off to Carolina Beach on Friday and we just got back yesterday. So it's been a pretty busy two weeks.

I have tons of pictures, but like the dope I am, I left my camera chord at my moms, so I have to wait for the package they sent it in.

I think I gained about 5 lbs..(I weighed in this AM), and I haven't run in about a week. I will get back on track....SOON!

5 hours, 2 Four year olds, 2 planes and one Me

makes for one very interesting travel day.

Up at 3 AM and not having slept well, I got ready, packed the car, woke DH and the kids and we were out the door by 4:30 AM.

The kids did well, but I was just spent. I slept about an hour on the way to Houston and the kids slept maybe 45 minutes.

On the way to Ontario, the kids got a little antsy but all in all they did good and I was not stressed. Well maybe a little, due the fact that we visited the bathroom literally, 15 times. INSANE.

My step dad picked us up and the twins were out for the hour ride to Simi. We totally bummed it and hung out with my youngest sister and my cute niece for most of the afternoon.

Then when the parentals came home we headed to my fave Mex place, and I did well, had fajitas, and very little chips. But I had to 'ritas on the rocks. Yumm.

The twins went to sleep around 9 and I followed shortly.

Running:
I ran this morning and I think it was a combo of being tired, jet lagged and the 'ritas, that made my run of 3.5 miles difficult but I got it done.

Hopefully tomorrows run will turn on exceptionally better and longer.

Monday's Run:
5 miles / ???? forgot my HRM
Wednesday's Run:

Major Pic Ho'

So I ended up...

running the Greater Raleigh Road Race - 5 miler on Friday. I knew the course was all hills. It was a good race. I met a ton of great runners. As I was heading into the last mile stretch, the lady in front of me starts to walk, and I said "You can't walk now, we have less than a mile left" so I got her running again, and we sprinted in together. My chip time was 59:29..ouch, I chalked it up to all the hills and the heat, it was really hot that morning.

I met the most awesome couple, Deb and Nick Laraia. Nick was riding his bike 5 years ago on a country road when he was struck by a car, as a result he lost his left leg. Deb, his wife, was telling me how the community they live in (Henderson, NC) came together and showed them a great deal of support and love.

Nick organized the Foundation 5K, which he encouraged me to run. I think I will.

Later on that afternoon I took the twins, the neighbors boys, and Christopher to the pool for a few hours. Then later that evening we headed to the Nickersons for a cookout and fireworks. It was a great day. Except I didn't sleep that well.

I woke up Saturday morning EXHAUSTED. But Gary and I busted our asses cleaning house and cooking for the twins party. As guest started to arrive, wouldn't you know it, it started to pour. I was pissed off. BLAH.

After everyone ate, the rain ceased and we headed outside to let the kids swim and play. They had a blast. Then it was cake time, which was a hit. I was nervous because I made a low fat cake, but everyone seemed to love it. We skipped presents because there were just too many people and kids, so they all played then watched movies, while the parents did their thing outside.

Sunday, we slept in then the twins opened all their presents. They got some really cool stuff. After that we bummed it hard, I cleaned up a little (my neighbor and MIL cleaned up the kitchen for me before they left Saturday...Thank GAWD) then I read my book and caught up on Weeds and the Secret Diary of a Call Girl

I am exhausted. I was going to get up this morning and run but I was like uhm NO, I am gonna sleep.

Side note: some fucking bastard is fucking with me. I bought a 13.1 magnet and it was on my car before we went to the beach a few weeks ago and when we came back it was gone. So I bought a 13.1 sticker and stuck it on the rear window on Thursday, when we came home on Friday it was gone. WTF? I think my DH might have something to do with the magnet but who knows. Who steals stickers? So lame

OBX Camping Recap...

We had the best time camping, although I was sick and hoarse for most of it, I did o.k., was still bitchy, but I had a good time.

We had a vomiter on the way there on Friday, so that set us back a bit, but he was feeling better by the time we reached camp. The 4 hour drive was scenic and pretty. I crocheted a new scarf in the time it took to get us there.

It was very windy. I was not prepared for how windy the campsite was, but I managed to get the tent up in no time as well as the 10 x 10 shelter we brought. The other campers made their way one by one later on in the day.

A few of us trekked to the beach before dinner. and what a trek it was. A little less than a mile, but there were tons of dunes. It is a gorgeous area.

No fires were allowed on site due to the wildfires everywhere so after dinner and all the kids were fast asleep we kinda just made a circle and chatted and drank and laughed. Around 11:30 PM the popo came around and told us to keep it down, cuz he was getting complaints. WTF? We were on vacation, bite me.

The wind was flapping our tents something fierce, I barely slept with the noise when I turned in. Ugh...

The next morning I heard everyone up early but I made the twins stay in bed till 7:45, then we got up, dressed and ate some breakfast while we got everything ready for our day at the beach. You could take your 4WD through the specified access, so that helped with schlepping all the beach gear a mile away.

It was fahreaking hot, but the winds kept us cool. All the kids loved playing in the water and playing in the sand, we were there about 4 hours then headed back for lunch and lounge time.
We headed out later that afternoon to find the sound side access (only knee deep water and much warmer) but we couldn't find it so we hit a different public beach.

After about an hour the twins were ready to call it quits (D was super hot and G was getting there), so we headed back to camp, and they both took naps.

We all hung out and ate, then I took the twins to the showers. Thank gawd Carly was there, D was in a pissy mood and after the screaming match that was supposed to be a shower, she dressed him and calmed him. The showers were fahreazing...but it felt good after a long day in the sun. Can I just say how dark the kids and I are? Wow...what a few hours of sun will do!

I proceeded to lose my voice earlier this day and by the time dinner was served, I was hoarse. Blah. And I felt like crap. I called it a night around 11:45 PM, and I actually slept through the thunder and lightening, nope I didn't hear a thing.

We woke up around 7:30 AM, but didn't get out of bed till 8:30. One family was packed and gone when we got up. But pretty much everyone was just packing at a leisurely pace. The twins ate and Gary and I packed the truck. The tent has some cuts and such from the poles rubbing up against the nylon on the top of the tent..which pissed me off. It's supposed to be a all-weather tent..NOT! Now I have to google how to mend it. Bastards!!!! A few other tents had the same problem and one tent actually rubbed clean through and collapsed. We (the group) lost (broke) about 4 chairs, and some camping gear.

We all headed to the sound side of Nags head. (Carly and Chris new where it was) and we all swam and just chilled for a few hours before packing back into the truck and heading home around noon.

It was a great trip and it is nice to finally be at home and sleep in my own bed.

No running was done due to the gale force winds and lack of sleep, plus I felt like crap.

I went to the Minute Clinic this afternoon and the RN thinks I have bronchitis. FUN!!! So hopefully the codeine laced cough syrup and the Mucinex will do it's job so I can get my run in tomorrow.

A few pics from the trip (thanks Tiffany)
